Choose the right beach day
Le Morne Beach sits directly below the UNESCO mountain. The public beach is free, has parking and offers calm water inside the lagoon, with a few snack vendors nearby. Kitesurfers also launch from this coast, so conditions and activity vary with the wind.

Walk a landscape with a powerful history
Le Morne Brabant rises 556 metres above the lagoon and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2008. The mountain sheltered people escaping slavery in the 18th and 19th centuries and remains a symbol of freedom and resistance.
The return hike takes around three to four hours. It becomes technical near the top, so a licensed guide is mandatory. Start around 6–7am, carry at least two litres of water per person and wear proper hiking shoes. Prepare with the Le Morne hike guide.
